    In collaboration with Evelyn Zartner from HSBC Bank, we recently facilitated a virtual workshop focusing on the critical topic of Identity Theft for parents from Arts In Action Community Charter School. Recognizing the growing importance of safeguarding personal information in today's digital world, our workshop aimed to empower parents with practical strategies to protect themselves and their families from identity theft.

    Throughout the session, participants engaged in informative discussions and interactive presentations, delving into the various aspects of identity theft, including common tactics used by cybercriminals, warning signs to watch for, and steps to take in case of identity theft incidents.   • Empowering Young Minds: Banking 101 Workshop at Thurgood Marshal Elementary

    At Thurgood Marshal Elementary School, we had the privilege of conducting a comprehensive Banking 101 workshop for over 90 eager 6th-grade students. Our goal was to demystify the world of banking and equip these young minds with essential financial knowledge to navigate their futures confidently. Throughout the workshop, students engaged in dynamic sessions covering the basics of banking, including the roles and functions of banks, the functionalities of credit and debit cards, the importance of savings, and the significance of setting S.M.A.R.T. goals.

    Through interactive activities, lively discussions, and real-life examples, we fostered a deeper understanding of financial literacy among the students, empowering them to make informed financial decisions. As we concluded the workshop, we were filled with a sense of fulfillment, knowing that we had ignited a spark of financial curiosity and empowerment in these young minds.   • Fraud Prevention Workshop at West Covina

    In collaboration with George Sevilla from Citizens Business Bank, and with the support of Hope Through Housing, we recently hosted a crucial Fraud Prevention workshop for West Covina residents.   • Empowering Parents: A Successful Tax Workshop Overview

    We successfully delivered a tax workshop in Spanish to over 30 parents as part of our Avance Financial program. The session focused on empowering them to navigate the tax filing process with confidence. We delved into crucial filing deadlines, deductions & tax credits, and discussed various filing methods, including utilizing valuable resources like Vita Tax centers.

    Recognizing the importance of informed decision-making, we also equipped participants with knowledge on red flags to watch out for when selecting a tax preparer.

  • Celebrating Success: Wrapping Up Our Financial Literacy Series at Bellflower High School

    We proudly wrapped up the sixth and final week of our financial literacy series at Bellflower High School with an exhilarating Shark Tank competition.

    In this workshop, students showcased their entrepreneurial spirit by presenting innovative business pitches to a panel of judges, aiming to secure offers and support for their ideas. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, including our dedicated team, the supportive banks, and, most importantly, the remarkable students who enthusiastically engaged with the program.

    Your commitment and passion have made this series a resounding success, and we are immensely proud of each and every one of you.     We concluded the third week of our engaging financial literacy series at Vista High School. In this latest workshop, we delved into two crucial topics: Understanding Credit and Auto Purchase. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, students gained invaluable insights into the role of credit in financial health and the process of purchasing a vehicle wisely.

    The session provided students with essential knowledge on how credit works, including factors that affect credit scores and responsible credit management practices. Additionally, participants learned about the importance of building and maintaining good credit, as well as strategies for avoiding common pitfalls.

  • Fifth Week of our Financial Literacy Series at Bellflower High School (Shark Tank Competition)

    February 26-27

    Last month we started a 6-week Financial Literacy Series at Bellflower High School with over 100+ students.

    This series has been focusing on guiding students towards a secure financial future by exploring diverse career paths, learn about investments from a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), understanding the homeownership & renting process.

    In the last two weeks the students will learn about business & entrepreneurship by participating in a shark tank competition. Thank you to Binuri Fonseka , Randy Maroun & Isaac Pleitez for assisting us with the shark tank project.

    We are incredibly grateful to Bellflower High and Middle Schools for partnering with us to empower students with financial literacy. This valuable opportunity is not readily available to all students, and we believe our work is making a lasting impact on an entire generation.
