DORIMA HAMILTON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dorima Hamilton graduated from Vanguard University with a BA in Psychology. Dorima developed and implemented financial coaching programs to address the unique needs of first and second generation Latino families. Through her proven leadership abilities, Dorima has had the privilege of helping underserved children, adults, and families find a pathway to success. As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, she has a unique insight into the challenges facing her community. She remains steadfastly committed to positive social change by fostering an atmosphere of communication, teamwork, and trust.

Since 2015, she has been Executive Director of a non-profit organization Instituto de Avance Integral Latino (IDEAL CDC), where she is in charge of writing grants, organizing events with teams, and implementing plans. She oversees collaboration with local officials and financial institutions, helping to create an environment in which people with different perspectives can come together to create real results. Under her leadership, funding for the organization has more than doubled every year.

In her several years of public service, she has developed and implemented financial capability programs to address the unique needs of first- and second-generation families, providing guidance and legal assistance to home buyers and business owners. She also helps to provide a critical link between the business world and various faith-based organizations.

Considering herself lucky to be able to work with such a diverse community, nothing makes her feel better than seeing individuals accomplish their goals. Hearing from students who have gone on to start businesses or families who are healthy and thriving makes all of her efforts worthwhile.

In 2019, Dorima coordinated an outreach event in East L.A. with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), local banks, small dollar lenders, and community leaders who are concerned about predatory lending. Dorima has been a strategic partner to various community development corporations such as the Southern Pacific District of Community Development & Small Business Department, Centro de Vida Victoriosa, COPALA, Jesse Miranda Center, and many more.

Mrs. Hamilton has also worked with special needs children and their families as a behavior and speech therapist. When she isn’t working, Dorima enjoys spending time with her family and cherishes the memories they are making together. She credits her parents for her work ethic and finds constant inspiration from her husband.
