Prayer Vigil for Pastor Noe

Avance Latino, along with several pastors and organizations from our community, came together in prayer and support for community  Pastor Noe Carias and his family, who face possible and immediate deportation.

The event took place on Monday, April 17 at 7:00 pm at our headquarter location in East Los Angeles. With the partnership of other local pastors, community leaders, and organizations such as;  CLUE, LA Voice, LA Red, and Southern Pacific District Assemblies of God, Matthew 25, COPALA.  The purpose of this event was to gather together as a community and show our support and the love we have for the community especially those that have dedicated their lives also to serve the community. We choose this date because the following morning at 8 am Pastor Noe Carias was to present himself before a Judge and ICE officials that would decide on whether he would be allowed to stay in this country with his wife, two children and continue pastoring his Hispanic church in Los Angeles. Avance Latino along with the organizations that showed up to the vigil the previous night, were there that morning showing the support and love we have as leaders for families that may be torn apart and deported.

Due to the amount of support, we were able to demonstrate in person, and through letters, we submitted from the community and those who attend Pastor Carias church the Judge and ICE officials decided to grant Pastor Carias a three-month deportation stay.  In the next three months, we are working hard as an organization and partnering with lawyers to see how we can better serve and help this and many other families facing this similar situation.
